Bright BasketryGift budgets, wishlists & trackers

Privacy

The short version: what you type stays in your browser.

What you type

Every calculation and list happens in your browser. Names, budgets, amounts, wishlist items and gifts are never sent to Bright Basketry or anyone else. Apart from loading the site's own files, the pages make no network requests; the one exception is the page-view count described below.

What is stored on your device

These items can be saved in your browser's local storage, only on the device you are using:

When you open a shared wishlist, the list is also kept in this tab's session storage as bb-shared, so a reload still shows it; your browser deletes it when the tab is closed, and "Make your own wishlist" removes it straight away.

"Start empty", "Start a new list" and "Clear the list" reset each tool. To remove everything, clear this site's data in your browser settings. On a shared computer, do that when you are done.

Shared wishlist links

A wishlist link carries the whole list in the part after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part to the server when they load a page, so the list is not received or stored by this site. As soon as the page has read the list it also removes that part from the address bar, so no other script on the page, including the page-view count below, sees it. Anyone you send the link to can read the list, so share it only with people you want to see it.

Cookies, accounts and ads

There are none. There is no sign-up, no advertising and no tracking across other sites.

Page-view counts

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which our host Cloudflare adds to each page, to count page views. It does not use cookies or track you across sites, and it never receives what you type into the tools.

Links to other sites

Pages link to sources such as MDN, to sister sites and to two recommended services, CleanTempMail and WebTraceCheck. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you follow a link.
